The British Museum, established in 1753, is the first national public museum in the world, containing artefacts from various cultures, spanning many continents.
Steensen Varming has worked on several projects with the Museum since our initial appointment in 2021. These projects range from emergency lighting installations, gallery ventilation improvements, and overheating studies to major infrastructure replacements and the development of feasibility studies concerning the Museum’s Masterplan.
Being the most visited building in the city and located in the centre of London, we worked closely with the Museum to develop solutions with appreciation to the logistical challenges that are associated with undertaking significant development works across a Grade I heritage-listed estate that has to support the business-as-usual operation of the establishment.
