This was Steensen Varming’s first commission, from the Royal Architect Kristoffer Nyrop Varming, father of our founder. It marked the beginning of a long relationship with the library, which holds Denmark’s largest collection of scientific and health science literature, dating from 1497. We designed the innovative bookshelves, which support the entire book tower – an interesting concept given the diminishing role of physical books in society today.

Steensen Varming extends respect to all Traditional Custodians throughout Australia and the world acknowledging the vital importance of their culture, language and lore in keeping the land, waters, seas and community strong. We walk together humbly, acknowledging care and respect should always be present.
