Brindabella 06 is a commercial building located at the Canberra Airport Brindabella Business Park. It was constructed using leading edge techniques and sustainable building practices. A collaboration between Capital Airport Group and architect Bates Smart, the two six-level, A-grade office buildings demonstrate a careful balance of connectivity and access to natural light, ensuring efficient workspaces. It features an underground car park, and retail fit outs will be added to the ground floor with restaurants cafes and stores.

Steensen Varming is designing the entire mechanical cooling and heating system including smoke management, stair pressurisation and designing a water-cooled system for the cooling with condensing boilers for heating. In particular, the mechanical team is trying to look at options to have energy efficient systems to serve heating and cooling for the building that have less impact on the environment as well as making it economical and robust in design.

In addition to natural ventilation and passive solar shading, the design has a 306kw/h photovoltaic array on the roof, making it Net Zero operational energy and achieving Gold WELL, 5-star NABERS, and 5 Green Star ratings.
