Located in Southbank, the Melbourne Arts Precinct has one of the highest concentrations of arts, cultural and creative organisations anywhere in the world. The Melbourne Arts Precinct Transformation will introduce major new attractions and modernise existing buildings.
Steensen Varming are proving ESD masterplanning services which aim to improve energy performance of buildings and infrastructure, use of renewable energy generation, water efficiency, collection and recycling initiatives and aim for zero waste to landfill. The sustainability strategy for the Melbourne Arts Precinct Transformation focuses on stitching together the precinct and connecting the buildings, the public realm and the wider area to support the vision of people, art and performance within a beautiful garden.
We are also providing the lighting design within the precinct which will guide future exterior lighting projects by establishing lighting principles, typologies and technical parameters. These principles have been designed for the development of a coherent, innovative, sustainable, safe and harmoniously lit night-time environment and will enhance the appreciation and enjoyment of the built and natural landscape, existing and new across the site.
